Episode 11: Zeus Hope

Zeus Hope, a lifelong New Yorker, started making art as a child by creating intricate doodles in newspapers. With a BS in World Gender and Women’s Studies from CUNY, Zeus’s art explores themes of race, class, gender, abuse, and trauma in a powerful and striking manner. Her work highlights Black history and the resilience of Black people, inspired by her own heritage and healing journey. She utilizes a variety of materials, including acrylic, rope, paper, and metals, to create multi-dimensional collages and assemblages. Her art has been praised by the New York Times and showcased at the Outsider Art Fair, and she has been awarded the Jamie Drake Scholarship for decorative arts at the Alpha Workshops.
